Type 904L Stainless Steel is the most common grade of stainless steel,
most likely due to its high level of corrosion resistance and resistance
to oxidation at a continuous exposure to 1650° F. It is interesting to
note that the 630 foot-tall Gateway Arch of St. Louis, Missouri was
constructed with this highly formable grade of stainless steel. It is
best to full anneal type 304 Stainless Steel quickly after fabrication
for relief of stress caused by forming.
