Monel 400 is a flexible nickel and copper consisting of 63% and 34% respectively, alloy retaining strength and toughness at low temperatures while still being effective at temperatures around 1000 degrees F. These pipes find their usages in process piping and equipment such as boiler feedwater heaters and heater exchangers. Monel 400 grade is a popular nickel-copper alloy that finds its use in high-performance applications. This alloy exhibits high strength, high resistance to acidic and alkaline environments, and good ductility and thermal conductivity. Monel 400 pipes can be hardened only by cold-working in temperatures ranging from subzero to 538 degree Celsius. Unique among Monel alloys, Monel 400 pipes are considered a “puritan alloy†because it contains the same amounts of nickel and copper content.
