Stainless Steel Strips
are the generic name given to group of corrosion and heat resisting
Steels. These are iron-base alloys containing chromium as the main
alloying element with a minimum of 10.5% to make it resistant to
staining, rusting scaling in most of the corrosive environment. The
complete range of Stainless Steel can be classified into 3 major
categories viz. Austenitic , Ferritic and Martensitic. Austenitic :

                                        - This Category of Stainless Steel contains 16 to 26% Chromium and 6 to 22% Nickel. They are non- magnetic and have excellent corrosion resistance. They are not hardenable by heat treatment. However, they can develop high strength on cold working. They are identified in the AISI 300 series.

- This category contains 12 to 30% Chromium without any Nickel. They are ferro-magnetic in nature and generally not hardenable by heat treatment. They are identified in AISI 400 series.

- This Category contains 11 to 14% Chromium without any Nickel. They are ferro-magnetic in nature and are hardenable by heat treatment. They are also identified in the AISI 400 Series.
